What You See is Only A Shadow

What You See is Only A Shadow, 2008  $3000.00

In deep space listening there is realization
that all we see, touch, smell
is but a shadow of Divine Energy shinning.

White mark represents Divine Essence in all of us, including Beech Tree.
Green, black, gold marks are what we perceive; physical – leaves, bark, branches.

“Remembrance” is less about physical and more about Divine Spirit infusing everything, everywhere.

You may not see, but Spirit is here…
Remember!
In the spirit of Japanese Zen painting, know for it’s bold black strokes and negative space, I explore the dance of brush and ink. The preparation to paint is equally as important to me as the mark making itself. I work to create a meditative space while I grind the ink and allow myself to become a hollow vessel, which allows the energy of brush and ink to move me across the paper. BrushWorks are created in one movement one stoke one breath, no alterations or additions.

Damini Celebre, previously a photographer who exhibited nationally and internationally until 1992, changed her career and now practices acupuncture and Chinese medicine. In 2005, she found a book called Zen Brushwork. The introduction was like reading an introduction in an Oriental medicinal text. Her two loves came together - the fine arts and the healing arts.
